Therapy for Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, and Eating Disorders.
I provide individual therapy for adolescents and adults who are struggling with a variety of concerns, and Family Based Treatment for adolescents and young adults with eating disorders. Whenever possible, I use treatments that have been shown in research to be effective for whatever issue is at hand.
I’m trained in a variety of evidence based treatments for conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and eating disorders. Sessions are typically between 50 and 90 minutes depending on what you need!
I have extensive experience and a passion for working with LGBTQ+ individuals. I am also a Kink-Knowledgeable and Poly/Non-Monogamy-Aware provider .
Evidence Based Treatment
-
Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT)
Therapy that has been shown in a multitude of research studies to be effective for a wide variety of conditions. It is present focused and aimed to help you identify what you want your life to look like, and change some of the problematic ways of thinking and behaving that are getting in the way.
-
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Therapy that is based in cognitive behavior theory that was developed to help people who weren’t getting better with CBT or more standard behavior therapy. It aims to help people learn skills to increase their awareness of the present moment, tolerate distress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships.
-
Prolonged Exposure (PE)
One of four evidence based treatments for PTSD. PTSD tends to lead you to avoid things in life that remind you of trauma, which often will keep you stuck. PE is designed to help you begin to approach things in life and in your own mind, creating new learning and helping you overcome trauma-based beliefs that are getting in your way. I am also intensively trained in the DBT-PE protocol, which is designed for people who need PTSD treatment but are engaging in risky behaviors that would typically preclude them from engaging in standard PE.
-
Family-Based Treatment (FBT)
An evidence based treatment for adolescents and young adults who struggle with anorexia, bulimia, OSFED, and ARFID. It asks the parents to take charge of helping their child reestablish regular eating and interrupting eating disorder behaviours by taking full control over feeding and meals. Eventually it then transitions to returning gradual, age-appropriate control to the child, and then focusing on the child fully reengaging in their life and focusing on relapse prevention.
